Families of the Luxe of Denton are served by the Denton Independent School District (DISD), which boasts a 97% high school graduation rate and higher SAT and ACT college admissions test scores than the state average. As a TEA-approved District of Innovation, DISD seeks continuous improvement and high achievement for each student.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS
Nearly 42% of DISD teachers have more than 10 years experience, and 32.6% have a master’s degree or higher.
DISD SIGNATURE PROGRAMS
The DISD is known for its Fine Arts programs and 90% of students participate in one or more arts offering. The program not only enables students to find and master new skills, but students also score an average of 50 points higher on SAT scores and master the STAAR English test at more than double the rate of DISD students not involved in fine arts.
Students at Denton High School (DHS) have the opportunity to take a variety of academic courses, including Advanced Placement, honors classes, and dual-credit college courses. DHS offers a Foreign Exchange Program where students can travel abroad, or families can host international students in their homes.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMME
DHS also offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, a highly acclaimed curriculum that encourages students to approach education through a global scope. Students who graduate with an IB diploma can gain up to 24 credit hours toward any college in the U.S.
WIDE RANGE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
There are extracurricular clubs and activities to meet every student’s interest: award-winning music and arts programs; ROTC and FFA, Akido, creative writing and language clubs, a wide variety of sports, and drill team. DHS athletics have historically been among the top programs in the state.
